ABOUT

Hi there, and welcome to The Sugar Collection. I'm Kirsty, a lover of all things simple, sweet and pretty.  I have been baking, decorating and creating professionally for the past 10 years, but my love for sugar started MUCH earlier.

I am part of a family who loves cooking and baking. My mum always made my siblings and my birthday cakes, and you betcha I always wanted to lick the spoon or the fresh cream off of the beaters. They were epic and I already couldn't wait for the next birthday to see what she would create. I loved helping, making the cake mix, beating the cream, spooning the cupcake batter into the liners, I was in love with the process of baking and decorating from as early as I can remember.

When I was nearing the end of high school, I still hadn't decided what I was going to pursue once that final bell rang. So I thought I love baking, why not study pastry. So I did. Along the way I have worked in high production kitchens, bakeries, taught classes and ran my own business, Pretty Sweet Cake Design.

At the start of 2020 I had decided to close Pretty Sweet, as I was moving interstate and family priorities were shifting and could no longer commit to orders. As the end of 2020 drew near, the need to be creative once again was growing so out of that need, The Sugar Collection was born. Here I want to share what I have learnt, recipes I love but most of all want you to enjoy baking and achieve simple yet effective cakes and desserts.
